The Petraia is a three bedroom property, two of which stand within the trulli: both with stunning ensuite bathrooms. The third bedroom situated in the lamia also features an ensuite and large walk-in closet. All bedrooms have private access to the garden.
There is an attractive and cosy living-room, placed within the ancient lamia, with an old stone fireplace and wonderful views of the pool and surrounding landscape; a kitchen with all modern amenities and a fourth bathroom for guests and laundry facilities: perfect for the long stay or for those who like to travel light with just hand luggage. Every detail has been thought of, you truly could not wish for anything more.
Outside, La Pietraia has a relaxing infinity swimming pool with an enjoyable panoramic view of the land which you can stroll around and admire the views. There are fig and lemon trees dotted about everywhere. The outdoor areas are fantastic and so well designed, set in a Mediterranean garden with myrtle and mastic trees. There is a lovely dining area just below the olive trees perfect to dine by candlelight on a warm summer’s evening. There’s also a spacious terrace on the roof which overlooks countryside full of olive trees and forests of oak, providing an ideal spot to enjoy a G&T or a glass of local wine to watch the sunset.
The property has wifi, Sky tv, climate control, an automatic gate, video surveillance and a convenient and ample parking area. Trulli La Pietraia is situated in the beautiful countryside between Ostuni and Ceglie Messapica and is just 2km from the centre of Ostuni, the La Citta Bianca (the “White City”) famous for its enchanting narrow streets whitened with the lime-washed walls. You can find pharmacies and supermarkets less than ten minutes away, and it is only some 12 km from some of Puglia’s loveliest beaches of the Ostuni’s coastlines . The charming little fisherman harbour of Savelletri, where you can have a delightful fish dinner or a stylish aperitif overlooking the sea is only half an hour away. Brindisi airport is 40 km and the Bari airport is 100 km .
Puglia’s rugged and beautiful landscape is well-suited to a huge range of activities perfect for a group villa holiday. Venture out from your private trulli villa and explore this beautiful region, see the historic towns and cities by bike or jump aboard a boat to check out the hidden caves and beaches along the unspoilt coastline.
We hired a car which was very reasonably priced for the entirety of our stay, giving us the freedom to explore and of course easy transport to and from the airport. Food and wine lovers will love trips to the hills to taste the incredible wine and olive oil produced here.
Maybe you could take a cooking class to learn how to make the most of all the local delicacies. One thing I noticed about the villa was the fact there were no steps or stairs making this property a great home from home experience for families with small children or even people with restricted walking. The pool was lovely and the views from the property could not have been better, the Trulli was exceptional.
Puglia is an incredible part of Italy, that I have only just discovered. After many trips to Rome, Pisa, Florence, Lake Como and Garda, this year I decided to visit a few Italian regions that I haven’t been before like Capri, Naples. Puglia just kept popping up on travel shows and in magazines and I thought it would be wonderful experience to stay in a traditional Italian Trullo. So if you are planning a Italian holiday and looking for a truly unique and wonderful experience in Puglia then I would highly recommend it.
