We were invited along to the amazing Pied à Terre restaurant in Charlotte Street.

Having heard such lovely things about the place and was delighted when David Moore, founding Director and the longstanding creative force behind Pied à Terre said we could come along and sample the exceptional gourmet food.

On arrival we was shown to our table and offered a apperatiffe, Gin Martini’s with a twist and they were delicious. We decided to try one of the Tasting Menu’s, and asked if the wine could be chosen for us also to compliment each course and it was perfect, from Greek, Chilean and Australian wines followed by another Greek desert wine, it just kept on flowing and every course was mouth watering.

I have listed below the menu which was amazing, the food served pipping hot where appropriate and perfect portions.

We started with a selection of canapés

Smoked Eel, Lardo, Watermelon Radish, Exmoor Caviar Scallops Ceviche, Cucumber, Balsamic, Dill

Celeriac, Apple, Walnut, Belper Knolle

Cornish Cod, Pink Grapefruit, Miso Butter, Black Quinoa, Artichokes

Fallow Deer, Fregola Sarda, Black Pearl Curry, Smoked Bacon, Beetroot, Red Chicory

Cheese Selection

Pre-Dessert

Pineapple, Kaffir Lime, Cucumber, Coriander

Coffee and Petits Fours to finish ….. There was very little space left at this point but I still felt comfortable and not bloated.

The executive head chef Andy McFadden insists on the finer details being just just so, everything that comes out his kitchen is perfectly presented, we managed to have a quick peep behind the scenes and a quick chat with Andy, the kitchen looked smaller than I had imagined and there was people everywhere yet still it seemed calm but busy. I asked Andy how his evening was going and he said “ Yes fine thank you “ quite calmly, I would have been screaming get out my kitchen and thats just me at home cooking for 6, he had a full restaurant that evening so with pans and people moving around all over the place it felt right for us not to hang around so after congratulating Andy and his team on the superb food we quickly got out of their way.

Pied à Terre is a Michelin starred French restaurant in the Fitzrovia district of central London and it lived up to all that has been said about it.

Hats off as well to the staff, each of whom gives the impression of being fully committed to Pied à Terre, a restaurant run as a well-oiled team effort all with a smile.
