This little gem of a restaurant is snuggled on a corner in Chapel Market, Angel Islington, as you enter the door it instantly feels homely and inviting. Everything is very well thought out and was designed by Thuy Kelly the owner herself, from the quirky flooring she has used on the ceiling and walls to the trinkets on shelves that she lovingly speaks of that belonged to her grandma.
Thuy explained that most of her dishes are inspired by childhood memories from back in Vietnam.Talking to her you could clearly hear the passion she has for food and cooking.
Thuy Kelly and her team serve up a selection of amazing dishes in this cafe-esk restaurant. the menu is small, which is refreshing and changes on a weekly basis. The menu consists of only a few permanent starters and mains and a couple of weekly specials. We decided to let Thuy choose our courses and boy she never let us done, the food just kept flowing, first to arrive was Vietnamese fried spring rolls, pork, mushroom, water chestnuts and glass noodles served with LVK fish sauce (which you can buy and take home with you) along side an organic minced beef wrapped in a perilla leaf, lightly fried served on a bed of salad.
Our main course was a soft shell crab curry and I can still taste all the amazing flavours jumping around in my mouth as I write this.
Then came an extremely delicious Vietnamese pork and prawn pancake served with fresh herbs and fish sauce.
The deserts were so tasty a vanilla pannacotta and macaroons, followed by a special cocktail to top the whole meal off just nicely.
What a delight it was to eat such amazing food, this place is incredible and an experience not to be missed, its all about good, honest, authentic Vietnamese food.
Thank you for inviting us Thuy we will most certainly be back soon!
