So you’re off to a chic boutique escape, while Rovers off to the kennels… Sometimes there’s no justice. If leaving your dog behind fills you with guilt, why not take your pooch to a pet-friendly hotel with you, our first pet-friendly hotel this year certainly had everything we needed for our stay.

We were invited to stay at Bailiffscourt Hotel & Spa, our first dog friendly hotel this year.

This eccentric Gothic mansion set on the south coast, Bailiffscourt is bursting with quirky features, like the amazing sitting rooms that make you feel as if you are in someones home, full of amazing antiques this really is a wonderful place to stay.

This enchanting place is just a 10-minute stroll across fields to the sea, Bailliffscourt was created in the 1920s by Walter Guinness, later Lord Moyne, and his wife Evelyn

who had a passion for all things medieval they bought land on which a small 13th century chapel already stood, and built a bewitching folly using a wide variety of authentic materials such as the golden Somerset stone walls and the entrance of the property which has a beautiful 15th century oak front door from South Warnborough church.

Sadly, Lady Moyne did not live to enjoy the finished house, with its series of interconnecting sitting rooms filled with oak chests, tapestries, Knowle sofas and Jacobean high backed chairs. Today it boasts a spa, in a contrastingly airy building, with indoor and outdoor pools.
Our bedroom was amazing with a beautiful view of the grounds a large four poster bed, TV and more importantly Wi Fi. The room is filled with more antique furniture and a bottle of champagne waiting on ice for us when we arrived.

Our pampered pooch was greeted with a doggy water bowl and biscuit treats which of course won him round straight away.
The bathroom is amazing so spacious, with robes, slippers and toiletries.

Diner was superb, greeted with a glass of champagne again my favourite and more treats for Louis we were seated in a quaint sitting room all ready set up for our arrival.

The menu had a wide variety of dishes to suit all pallets and the wine list has every wine you could possibly imagine to compliment. Finished off with an Irish coffee made for us at our table, which was a novel touch and I must say meant the coffee was still piping hot. There was no problem of food for Louis they happily cooked him his own dish of chicken, peas and potato. There is always a private little snug to settle down with a nice bottle of wine.

Next morning I was treated to a relaxing body massage in the wonderful spa, while Louis was walked around the hotel’s lawns which are dotted with toy town medieval outbuildings, flowers, shrubs and a resident peacocks.

This hotel was perfect for a stay with our pooch and just 10 minutes stroll and you are on the beach beside the sea, what more could you ask for.
