We arrived this morning at Marrakech airport and I couldn’t be happier to be back. As we arrived outside the airport our driver was waiting for us, we came through quite quickly as normal. This time of year seems to be quicker coming through passport controls.Just ten minutes after leaving the airport we had arrived, at the end of an alley, which is being taken up by a donkey and he’s cart and a group of Moroccan gentleman chatting, there’s a wooden door with brass ornate furniture which opens to reveal this pretty little riad.

We are taken into the smoking room as it is called and given a nice cold glass of freshly squeezed orange juice which makes a pleasant change from Moroccan mint tea.

Then Wafaa the hotel manager shows us to our room not as large as I had expected from my previous trips to marrakech but I must say very adequate and extremely beautiful. Everything had been thought of, the mobile phone to take with you in case we got lost, an iPod with a huge selection of songs, air conditioning, welcome dates and drinks and fresh fruit.

This room is beautifully decorated with pure cotton sheets, rose petals laid out on our bed and a selection of bath lotions and potions and bath robes and slippers in our bathroom, I must say that there is another pet hate of mine, when you go to a hotel and the slippers are all one size! I am a size 4 and my husband is an 8, so normally there’s me flapping around as if I have a pair of flippers on, but not this time, my slippers fit perfectly nice touch, simple things I hear you say….

We arrived at 11am and the lovely Wafaa offered us breakfast after our early morning flight and it was greatly appreciated, fresh fruit, home made yogurt, croissants, eggs, Moroccan tea, coffee and fresh orange juice.

After breakfast which was lovely and unpacking, we ventured upstairs to take a look at the view from the roof top with a nice glass of red wine. After sitting in the sun for half an hour we decided to brave the souks, I have been to Marrakech as you know eight times now but my husband has never been and it was certainly an experience for him. Donkeys, carts, mopeds and constraction diggers…Yes you did read this correctly ….Construction diggers, the souks never cease to amaze me.

After a very short shopping trip we decided to return to our riad and relax on the terrace for a short while, just chilling and enjoying the view.

We have a restaurant reservation this evening at Le Jardin a sister restaurant of Nomad, so we will return later this evening to Maison MK for after dinner drinks.

We are back after a lovely meal at Le Jardin, we were greeted again by Wafaa the hotel manager, this lady just can not do enough to help, always on hand to answer any questions or try to solve any problems you may have. A quick night cap and off to bed for us, it has been a long day but it has been lovely.

Tomorrow morning after breakfast we are having a Hammam and a massage which is part of Maison MK’s signature East to West package they offer…..Watch this space for more pics and details.
