In the middle of the vibrant area De Pijp at the well known Albert Cuypstraat and a short stroll away from the Museum quarter you will find the luxurious boutique hotel Sir Albert.
Housed in a former diamond factory, the hotel offers a unique take on the traditional boutique hotel. Based on an imaginary character, the property is laid out as a well appointed aristocratic home. Hotel guests enter directly into the study area rather than an official reception, equipped with leather club chairs, fireplace and crystal decanters filled with spirits. Reception staff promptly check you in whilst you relax in the study, perusing the wide range of coffee table books with a drink in hand.
Many of the 90 individually designed rooms and suites offer views of the surrounding canal district and are decorated in sleek fashion, painted white with black gloss bathrooms, pony skin chairs and antique floor rugs. Amenities include free Wi-Fi, Nespresso machines and IPod docks as well as an interestingly stocked mini bar. Room service is available 24 hours a day and offers a wide choice to suit your mood from bespoke bento boxes, pizzas, curries and highly commended burgers from The Butcher, voted Amsterdam’s best burger bar by the city’s edition of Time Out.
We have to also note that the beds are one of the comfiest we’ve slept in, and we’ve slept in a lot on our travels!
The hotel also offers a buzzy restaurant and bar, IZAKAYA, serving Asian cuisine with amazing cocktails. The place is a magnet for chic Amsterdam’ers so it’s highly recommended that hotel guests book in advance to avoid disappointment.
