For almost 100 years Meikles has been acclaimed as Zimbabwe’s premier luxury five-star hotel, its gracious charm and silver-service style reflected in their membership of Leading Hotels of the World. This beautiful hotel is situated in the heart of the capital city Harare, Meikles is a legendary meeting place for international business executives, dignitaries, leisure travellers and celebrities, such as Hilary Clinton have stayed here.

The hotel overlooks Cecil Square, the city’s epi-centre and where the first British settlers raised the Union Jack. In 1980 as a new African nation was born the Zimbabwe flag replaced this and the beautiful park and gardens that the hotel overlooks became known as Africa Unity Square.

I was invited along to stay on the last night of my trip to Zimbabwe. I had flown from Victoria Falls and was really looking forward to a nice hot bath, a lovely meal and good nights sleep and this hotel never let me down. The Meikles Hotel is fabulous with everything you could possibly need from a city hotel. The decor is stunning with an older style colonial wing and the new refurbished wing where I stayed in a Delux room.I totally enjoyed my evening at this stylish 5 star hotel and would certainly stay again on my next visit to Harare.
