The Maldives, one of the most desirable destinations in the world lived up to its reputation when we visited over Christmas and New Year. This beautiful part of the globe has to be our favorite destination we’ve visited so far. We were lucky enough to spend two glorious weeks on Kuredu Island, one of the largest and most popular islands in the Maldivian archipelago.

ACCOMODATION

The resort has a total of 383 rooms and suites, made up of 7 different categories. We stayed in a Jacuzzi Beach Villa located along the main beach and just a few meters away from the shore. The room boasts a double four poster bed, jacuzzi bath and beautiful open bathroom.

WATERSPORTS

The dive school is one of the largest in the Maldives, whilst we didn’t partake in any diving during our trip we made the most of the snorkel centre and wide selection of watersports available with extremely dedicated and experienced instructors.

DINING

The Island has four main restaurants with additional a la carte options including The Far East restaurant, a particular favourite of ours, specializing in Japanese Cuisine and The Beach restaurant serving fresh seafood and steaks.

We were unsure of what to expect for Christmas and New Year, but both evenings surpassed our expectations. We enjoyed gala dinners, boasting incredible buffets of a high quality. As well as entertainment and fireworks to ring in the New Year which remains one of the most memorable moments from our stay.

SERVICE

We experienced nothing but the warmest and genuine service throughout the duration of our stay on the island. The attention to detail is second to none, from our warm welcome on the jetty, cocktails and cold flannels upon check in to the friendliness of the staff just passing us on the way to dinner.

SPA

Duniye Spa has two locations on Kuredu, the Land spa for health and beauty treatments in a tropical setting, and ‘O’ Spa for over-water indulgence. We visited the ‘O’ spa and enjoyed a Balinese massage with gorgeous views.
